I got shoes!!!

I'm now the proud owner of my first pair of running shoes! The most expensive pair of shoes I own too. I guess that speaks to my commitment to this marathon, believe me, I'm quite frugal. The shoes feels so good, I wanted to wear them back to the office, except they don't really go well with a suit. I still have a few more things I saw that I want to buy, so I'll be going back some other time.
I've been telling everyone about doing the marathon, I guess the more people that know, the more people there are to hold me accountable, right? I still get the "are you crazy?" look. kind of the same look I got when I told people I was a chemical engineer.

Thursday

I think I may need to reconsider my choice of exercise for X training day. I got on the elliptical, and I am sore all over! I guess that's a good sign (that I'm getting good exercise) but I'm moving on slow motion today.
I need to get my shoes today because my old shoes are, well, old and I think their expiration date is long past due.
I've been reading along the blogs, and wondering if I should be attempting to run. I see that some people are running, where you runners already? I don't want to overdo it because my goal is to make it to Chicago, so I'm wondering if I missed something. I'd like to walk/jog the marathon but right now, I'm just walking.
I'm also wondering if you are allowed to have iPods during the marathon. I don't want to get used to running with one and then not be able to use it for the actual run.

oh boy, cross training day

Well, I made it to Wednesday. Instead of doing weights, I decided to give the elliptical machine a try. So I headed to the gym after work and finished a 25 min workout, while watching George Lopez (love that show). I'm pretty sure I'm going to be sore tomorrow. It's amazing how easy it is for me to find the time to go and train. I think it's the group atmosphere, and being accountable to other people. Whatever it is, it's working!
